He uses a range of unnatural, almost strident colours, which under his magic touch seem to vibrate and dance off the canvas, blending to create a naturalistic image with great aesthetic depth. His open brushwork, sweeping colour, use of texture and precise drawing skills have resulted in a body of work that has earned him many international accolades. He has been named as ‘Today’s Top Artist’ by the USA association of Art Business News Major Shows for an astonishing four years in a row from 2007 to 2010. His New York shows have sold out for the last eight years, and his celebrity collectors include George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Glenn Close, Martin Scorsese and Billy Crystal. A native Californian, Asencio lives and works in his studio near San Jose, north of his birthplace of Los Angeles. His work is collected and exhibited to great acclaim all over the world.
