Highly sophisticated and complex in their concept and execution, Tom’s latest scenes of London and the UK coastline are crammed with ideas and incident and bathed in a glorious natural light, recreating the colours and atmosphere with accuracy and charm. Using mixed media and collage elements, Tom overlays transparent and solid substances, making each absorbing work smooth in areas and textured in others. He believes there is no better subject to take full advantage of these techniques than within a cityscape or a coastal scene which, in themselves, are a layered tapestry of shapes, textures and colours.
